What do you see as a writer? What do you pick from the society around you? Perhaps you've been living a routine life for years. Do you know what you might be missing? As an author, it's essential to build compelling characters and narratives, and we are here to help you do just that.
Consider your daily commute. Say you're traveling on a bus from the office to home on a tired evening. You buy your ticket, find a seat, and reach your destination. Is that all? Please don't say yes to this.
When you enter the bus, you see tired faces, a child crying while sitting on his mother's lap, a driver sweating and sipping water, a ticket collector moving briskly between passengers. Is that all you see? Again, please, no. As a writer and a keen observer, there's so much more to notice.
Imagine entering the bus and seeing all these people. Observe their ages, skin colors, and the way they dress. Guess their jobs, backgrounds, and moods. Notice how you feel about them—like or dislike someone for no apparent reason, get annoyed by the child's cries or the vehicle's speed. Watch how each person speaks, smiles, thinks, sleeps. Each one is unique in their own way, right? Isn't it fascinating?
As a writer, your characters should be as distinct as the people you observe. Their characteristics must be unique and non-overlapping. Our course on Writing Support can help you develop these skills and create compelling, diverse characters.
Don't miss your destination—enroll in our Writing Support course today and elevate your writing.
